After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response - I think simile and rhetorical questions are some of the most effective because they can make you think and understand things better. Similes help compare things so you can understand them better. Rhetorical questions ask you something to add complexity and make you think. While some may add on to these or may be different, I think that these are the most important. Summary - Today in class, we had a test on rhetorical devices. Reflection - Today, we thought about rhetorical devices and answered the questions.

Prompt: Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response - A vocab word that resonates with me is convoluted, because in our current world, things are messy and confusing, similar to the word. One thing that could be convoluted is school right now, because there's a lot to do, and it can be confusing if you're not concentrated. Summary - Today in class, we had a sub and worked on a vocabulary worksheet. Reflection - Today, we thought about our new vocabulary and how to use it.

Prompt: Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Prompt Response - A time I had to rely on someone else was when I didn't understand something in one of my classes. They explained it to me so that I could understand how to do the work. During and after they explained, I felt kinda dumb for not understanding it, while others around me got it without a problem. Summary - Today in class, we worked on a rhetoric worksheet. Reflection - Today, we thought about rhetorical examples.

Prompt: What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response - Some life skills I learned in high school are time management, communication, and social skills. Managing homework, tests, and sports helped me learn how to prioritize assignments and turn work in on time, which will be useful in college or at a job. Playing a team sport and participating in class discussions improved my communication and social skills and taught me how to express ideas better and work well with others. These skills are essential for my success after high school because they help me stay organized, build strong relationships, and manage social interactions. Summary - Today in class, we took notes on types of rhetoric. Reflection - Today, we thought of examples for rhetoric.

Prompt: Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response - A time I took a break from something was when I got burnt out from designing Lego models. I had just finished designing all the original dragons from Ninjago to be as show-accurate as possible and was feeling stuck afterwards. After I took a break, I was ready to continue making show-accurate models, now that I was feeling reinspired and new pieces and colors had come out. Summary - Today in class, we learned and took notes on more rhetorical devices. Reflection - Today, we thought of examples for more rhetorical devices.

Prompt: Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Prompt Response - Today's class felt like it lasted 12 hours. I was a bit tired today in class. The material we learned today in class was not bad. Summary - Today in class, we learned and took notes on hyperboles, understatements, and litotes. Reflection - Today, we thought of examples that include hyperbole, understatement, and litotes.

Prompt: In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

Prompt Response - Over the holiday break, I worked on more Lego MOCs and didn't sleep much. I also practiced lacrosse on the school field. The first goal that I hope to achieve in 2026 is getting my license. This goal is important because being able to drive would help me be more independent and responsible. To achieve this goal, I plan to work hard and spend more time practicing as well as finish Joshua's Law. I plan to pass both the written and driving tests and get my driver’s license before I start senior year. The second goal that I hope to achieve in 2026 is improving my SAT score and taking the ACT. This goal is important because getting a better score will help me get into the college I want. To achieve this goal, I will work/study consistently so I can do well. I plan to improve my SAT and take the ACT before the end of the school year. The third goal that I hope to achieve in 2026 is improving my skills as a lacrosse goalie. This goal is important because it will help...
