This is the poster I made for the final.

Prompt: As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

Prompt Response - The thing I enjoyed most about class was the poem readings. The part of the course that connected with me the most was the discussions cause I could see other people's views on a poem or story. An area I think I might need improvement in is analysis/themes and writing.

Prompt: How have the holidays changed as you have grown older? Compare your experiences of the holidays during childhood with how you experience them now, focusing on shifts in perspective, responsibilities, or emotional meaning.

Prompt Response - As a kid, holidays had a lot more going on, where as a kid, I would be super happy to wake up on Christmas and see the gifts under the tree. Now that I've grown, I don't do much for Christmas and will just buy myself something and open it on Christmas if I want to.

Prompt: Many holidays center around traditions. Describe one tradition that is important to you or your family and explain why it still matters (or why it no longer does).

Prompt Response - One tradition that is important to me is dia del nino. It's important to me because it connects me to where I'm from and to my family. I also like it because I get a gift on that day. Summary - Today in class, we got new vocabulary. Reflection - Today, we analyzed the new vocabulary.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve outgrown but still miss.

Prompt Response - Something I've outgrown but still miss is recess. I enjoyed having a time during the day where I could play and talk with friends and chill. Having recess now would be great cause I could do work, destress/decompress, and talk with friends and hang out. Summary - Today in class, we had a vocabulary test. Reflection - Today, we analyzed the words/questions on the vocabulary test.

Prompt: Write about something that you can't stop thinking about.

Prompt Response - Something I can't stop thinking about are different ideas and blueprints for different Lego builds and building techniques I could use. I'm planning how I can make Ouroboros and remake serpentine vehicles. I also think about the new sets that are being released and how I could incorporate them together, like the Old Town and the Dragon Stone Shrine. Summary - Today in class, we scheduled some of our classes for next year. Reflection - Today, we analyzed what classes we want to take next year.

Prompt: Post the picture of your cultural identity mask onto your blog. Write a reflection about the creation process of the mask or presenting it to the class.

Prompt Response - I put things that I like and that represent me. Summary -  Today in class, we presented our masks. Reflection -  Today, we analyzed each other's masks.

Prompt: Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt Response - I don't receive many gifts nowadays, and the ones I do get, I usually get myself, but one gift that I can recall getting is the Lego Imperial Star Destroyer. It was a gift given to me by my aunt about a year ago, and it's a pretty cool set. I haven't gotten around to building it yet due to a lack of space, but I am looking forward to it. Summary - Today in class, we got new vocabulary and worked on our masks. Reflection - Today, we analyzed the new vocabulary.

Prompt: After watching the short film Identity, write a blog post reflecting on how the masks in the film represent the pressure to fit in and the struggle to discover who you really are. Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?

Prompt Response - One moment from the film that stood out to me was all the references to lesser/trapped beings and how you are just a pawn or cog in the machine. This connects to the poem where he refuses to be a pawn and instead claims his identity with confidence. Both the film and the poem show the struggle to be seen for who you really are. With the mask I’m making, I want it to be simple. Summary - Today in class, we read I, Too. Reflection - Today, we analyzed the poem I, Too.

Prompt: In “I, Too,” the speaker expresses pride in his identity and his rightful place in America. Reflect on your own life: What aspect of your cultural identity are you most proud of, and why?

Prompt Response - An aspect of my cultural identity that I'm proud of is the food. The food of my culture is really good, and I like to eat it. It also makes me think of my childhood, like when I would be with my grandparents. Summary - Today in class, we had a paper assignment on We Real Cool. Reflection - Today, we analyzed the lines in We Real Cool.

Prompt: In “We Real Cool,” the speakers make choices that seem exciting, bold, and rebellious, even though those choices lead to consequences. Write about a moment in your own life when you followed what looked cool or fun, only to realize afterwards that it wasn’t the smart or responsible path. What influenced your decision, and how did your perspective change later?

Prompt Response - A moment when I followed what looked cool or fun was when I skipped a school study session because my friends said it would be boring and convinced me to hang out with them instead. At the time, it felt exciting and rebellious, like I was finally doing something cool. But when I did poorly on the quiz the next day, I realized it wasn’t worth it. Summary - Today in class, we read We Real Cool. Reflection - Today, we analyzed the poem We Real Cool.

Prompt: Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

Prompt Response - Something I was thankful for during Thanksgiving break was my friends. I enjoy hanging out with them and talking with them. I also enjoy playing lacrosse with them. Summary - Today in class, we got new vocabulary and did some work. Reflection - Today, we analyzed the new vocabulary.
